Handmade Polymer clay Ring Bowls

I am one of those people who will take off their ring, throw it on the counter, loose it among the other random stuff cluttering the space, then search the house frantically searching for it, to almost knock it down the garbage disposal while doing the dishes…sooo, I decided to make tiny ring bowls for my bathroom sink, craft table and bedside. I made a few extra in case you have the same problem. 🙂

These lil guys are fresh out of the oven. I created these ring/trinket bowls from polymer clay and they vary in size, I will include their measurements on sale listings. I played with the Mica Shift technique shown on the purple dish, and other textures then cured them. Once cooled, I embellished them with acrylic paint, Gilders Paste and Inka Gold pigments. I sealed the surface with Renaissance wax for protection. My trinket or ring bowls will be available for sale in my Etsy shop as well as DaturaDeadly.com by Tuesday the 7th.

If you are interested in creating your own trinket bowls as gifts or a little something for yourself it’s a very simple process and quite enjoyable as you let your creative juices flow. I found this tutorial while I was browsing Pinterest from the blog of A Beautiful Mess.

They show you how to create a freeform marble type bowl, but of course it is just a starting place and once you get the basics you can use your imagination to make the design your own.

You can purchase polymer clay at local craft stores like Michaels or you can use my affiliate link to purchase it on Amazon:

I did not have an oven safe bowl to sacrifice for this project, so I created one from heavy duty aluminum foil, using a dip bowl from my kitchen as a base. Please be aware that polymer clay is not food safe, and food should never come into contact with its surface. I then realized I made my base larger than I wanted my ring bowl to be so I experimented with my Sculpey Hollow bead maker and a small glass candle holder. I will be making larger sized dishes for vanity tables and counters in the near future.
